A memo went out on Tuesday evening where Google CEO Sundar Pichai addressed the company's artificial intelligence blunders. This follows Google taking its Gemini image-generation feature offline for testing.

The tool was introduced earlier this month via Gemini, which allowed images to be generated via user prompts. However, users discovered historical errors that went viral on social media.

Pichai's memo said, "I know that some of its responses have offended our users and shown bias – to be clear, that's completely unacceptable and we got it wrong." However, the memo also said that "Our teams have been working around the clock to address these issues. We're already seeing a substantial improvement on a wide range of prompts."

Technical Analysis

Source: www.tradingview.com

Google's parent, Alphabet (GOOG.us), has struggled in 2024 and had declined near 3% for the year-to-date. This, despite the NAS100 appreciating over 9% and the SPX500 climbing near 8% for the comparable period. As such, the technicals bear watching.

The GOOG.us weekly RSI is set to drop below 50, which would place it on the bearish side of the indicator. The longer it maintains below 50, the greater the momentum pressure that the stock price will face. Already, the green 5-week is crossing below the orange 10-week EMA which is a bearish development.

Should weakness persist, we note that there is underlying support at the 130 level (red horizontal line), which may an area that the bulls target.
