Glencore is one of the largest mining and natural resource companies in the world. Founded in 1974 as Marc Rich + Co., the company was renamed Glencore in 1993. Based in Baar, Switzerland, the company operates 150 mining and metal sites and oil production assets in 35 countries and makes a market in more than 90 commodities.[1] As of 2020, Glencore employed 135,000 workers and contractors worldwide.[2]
For full-year 2020, Glencore reported a net loss of US$1.9 billion versus a loss of US$404 million in 2019. Revenue fell 34% to US$142.3 billion from US$215.1 billion, largely due to the pandemic. Total assets fell 5% to US$118 billion from US$124.1 billion.[3] Glencore's ticker symbol is GLEN.
